1972 AMF Ski Daddler XX1340

What was your intended objective when you started the build?

My brother and I wanted to complete the restoration and surprise our Dad with his old race sled on Christmas morning 2018.

What motivated you to start your project?

This sled belonged to and was raced by our Dad back in 1972.  We found out about it by dumb luck in February 2018, some 46 years later. It was still owned by the same guy that bought it from our Dad.  He had no intentions of selling it but we were able to persuade him to sell it back to us.  Our father sold AMF and Scorpion snowmobiles in the 70’s and 80’s so this sled had a lot of sentimental value.

What was the most unique and creative thing you did to the sled?

We we’re able to keep the hood original with the exception of a couple of the decals which we had reproduced.  The hood still has his USSA number and his name hand lettered.

What are you most proud of?

That we were able to keep the restoration and surprise.

What do other people say about your sled?

How did you ever find that sled?  There’s no way that’s the same sled from way back in 72.  Are you sure that’s the same sled?  No way, that is so cool!
